How to identify a mating automotive connector for a quotation
A matching connector enquiry should identify the mating system, not only the number of cavities. If the part number is unknown, provide a consistent evidence pack so the supplier can propose a candidate for confirmation rather than promise a match from one picture.

Photograph and list the parts separately
| Check | Information to request |
|---|---|
| Identity | Send all visible part numbers and markings. Identify the equipment or existing connector reference when available. |
| Photographs | Include the mating face, wire-entry side and latch/keying details, with a scale or drawing for dimensions. |
| Components | List housing, contacts, seals, cavity plugs and locks separately; ask exactly what the offered selling unit includes. |
| Application data | Provide the wire specification and required operating conditions for review, without inferring ratings from housing size. |
Before approving the purchase
An offer for a housing may not include contacts or seals. Ask for the proposed part list and mating reference before pricing it against a complete set. Keep unconfirmed lookalikes out of an approved replacement list.
What to send next
Use a sample to confirm the proposed assembly with your technical team. Model names and photographs alone do not establish interchangeability or environmental protection.
