How to specify wire ferrule size and sleeve length
Start a ferrule enquiry with the conductor size and the required metal sleeve length. Keep these as separate fields. A colour or a short model code is useful for identifying a candidate, but it is not a complete purchasing specification.

Four fields to put on the purchase list
| Check | Information to request |
|---|---|
| Conductor | Write the specified cross-section in mm² or the stated AWG; attach the cable specification if uncertain. |
| Length | Distinguish the metal tube length from the overall length including the collar. Mark the requested dimension on a drawing. |
| Destination terminal | Send the terminal manufacturer and model, or its technical sheet, for suitability confirmation. |
| Quantity | State pieces per pack and the number of packs. Keep samples separate from the production quantity. |
Before approving the purchase
If two listings share a cross-section but have different sleeve lengths, do not treat them as substitutes automatically. Ask which dimension each listing reports and obtain the proposed part drawing before approving the order.
What to send next
Your RFQ should contain one line per cross-section and length combination. Request a labelled sample when the receiving terminal or required dimension remains uncertain.
