Heat-shrink tubing: specify expanded and recovered dimensions
Do not select heat-shrink tubing from the shrink ratio alone. Send the dimensions of the object to be covered and request the tubing’s stated expanded and recovered inside diameters. Keep the required covered length as another field.

Make the dimensional request explicit
| Check | Information to request |
|---|---|
| Object | Give the relevant outside dimensions and note any larger section the tubing must pass over. |
| Tubing | Ask for the specified minimum expanded inside diameter and maximum recovered inside diameter. |
| Length | State the final coverage needed and ask the supplier to address longitudinal change in the selected product specification. |
| Other requirements | List material, adhesive requirement and application environment for technical review; request supporting data rather than assuming ratings. |
Before approving the purchase
Two products with the same ratio need not have the same diameters or application window. Compare the dimensional tables for the proposed model, then approve the actual size. A colour photograph cannot establish electrical or environmental performance.
What to send next
Request a sample and the exact product sheet before the bulk order if fit is unresolved. This guide prepares purchasing information; installation conditions must follow the selected product’s instructions.
