Cable lug orders: distinguish barrel size from stud-hole size
A cable lug needs more than one size description. Record the conductor requirement and the equipment connection separately. A model code may contain several numbers, so ask for a dimensioned drawing instead of interpreting every number from the code.

Check the drawing in four places
| Check | Information to request |
|---|---|
| Barrel | State conductor size and conductor specification; request barrel dimensions where needed for review. |
| Hole | Specify the required stud connection and actual hole dimension from the drawing, including the unit. |
| Palm | Review available space using palm width, thickness and orientation rather than the hole alone. |
| Application | Confirm the proposed lug, conductor and tool/die combination with the responsible technical reviewer. |
Before approving the purchase
If the conductor side matches but the hole or palm differs, keep the candidate as an alternative, not a confirmed replacement. Ask the supplier to mark the changed dimensions on the quotation.
What to send next
Approve the drawing revision and model together. Do not infer current rating, compliance or compatibility from a photograph or material description alone.
